This guide explains how to view satellite imagery in CultiWise, including supported imagery sources, navigation tools, and customization options. It covers how to access imagery, interpret data, and adjust visualization settings for better analysis.
Supported Satellite Imagery
CultiWise provides access to the following satellite imagery sources:
- Sentinel-2
- Planet
Accessing Satellite Imagery
- First, select the field where you want to view satellite imagery
- Then click the 'Satellite Imagery' section in the left panel of the application

- A calendar showing the current month will appear. Use the arrow buttons to navigate between months.

Understanding the Calendar
Color-coded markers under the date indicate the availability of imagery from specific sources (refer to the legend):
- Green: Sentinel-2 imagery available (approximately two images per week, 10m ground sampling distance)
- Orange: Planet imagery available (up to daily images, 3m ground sampling distance)
Selecting an Imagery Date
Click on a date to see the types of satellite imagery available.

- 0% cloud cover: Ideal conditions
- >0% cloud cover: Higher cloud cover reduces image quality
- N/A: The service is not activated (applies to Planet imagery)
Note: Clouds may skew the results so images with 0% are recommended for usage.
Choosing Imagery Indices
When viewing satellite imagery, different indices can be selected and displayed on the map.
Each index highlights specific vegetation conditions:
- NDVI: Indicates vegetation health and density
- Chlorophyll Index: Estimates leaf chlorophyll levels
- Crop Moisture Index: Identifies drought stress in crops
- Leaf Area Index: Measures total leaf coverage per area

Viewing the Imagery Layer

Note: It may take a few seconds for the layer to load.
To hide layer, click on the 'HIDE SATELLITE LAYER' button.

Adjusting Layer Display
- Adjust the color scheme to represent index values.

- Allowing you to customize scale values and range for enhanced contrast and improved visual clarity.
- The histogram typically features two peaks: the first represents soil (lower vegetation values), while the second corresponds to vegetation. The slider can be adjusted to narrow the range and highlight differences more effectively

Note: The gradient and histogram sliders only affect the visual representation of the selected vegetation index.
Satellite Imagery Specifications
- Included in the Basic subscription and above.
